Reflecting on the Largest Design Conference in Abeokuta: A Journey of Community, Talent, and Startups
One month ago, a significant milestone was achieved with the hosting of the first and largest design conference in Abeokuta under the Figma Config Watchparty. This event not only marked a turning point for Friends of Figma, Abeokuta but also highlighted the incredible potential of our community.
For over two years, our efforts were concentrated on virtual events, aiming to build a robust design community. The success of our first physical event was a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team. I extend my deepest gratitude to each team member who contributed to making this event a reality. Together, we have ensured that Friends of Figma, Abeokuta continues to thrive and set new standards of excellence.
A Passion for Community, Talents, and Startups
My journey has been fueled by a deep passion for three core elements: community, talents, and startups. I am driven by a vision to see our ecosystem flourish. This vision has led to the creation and support of numerous initiatives aimed at talent development through both paid and free skill training, mentorship programs, and internship opportunities.
In addition to talent development, I have been privileged to work on building and nurturing several communities. These communities provide a platform for newbies and mid-level professionals across various sectors to grow and excel. Friends of Figma, Abeokuta, is one of many such initiatives that exemplify this commitment.
