Empowering Communities: How We’re Transforming Lives Through Tech Training in Ogun State

This year has been nothing short of transformative, filled with impactful partnerships, strategic initiatives, and life-changing outcomes for the communities we serve. As we approach the end of 2024, I’d like to reflect on the journey so far and the milestones we’ve achieved at AYAF and the ATB Tech Hub.

The Journey to EmpowerHER

It all began in January when I identified a promising lead for a potential partnership with an NGO planning to expand into Ogun State. Leveraging my role as an ecosystem builder in talents, startups, and community development, we initiated discussions, conducted Proof of Concepts (POCs), and formalized agreements.

By August, the hard work paid off. We were awarded a grant to empower 100 young women in Ogun State with digital tech skills over six months. This remarkable opportunity, funded by the US Consulate and executed in collaboration with Rise to Inspire Africa, marked the beginning of a transformative initiative.

Months of meticulous planning culminated in a successful launch event a few days ago. Hosting these young women, alongside stakeholders and partners, was a proud moment that underscored the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable change.

Expanding Impact with Ogun State Skill Funds

While planning for the EmpowerHER program, I also leveraged the Ogun State Skill Funds to empower 35 individuals in full-stack web development. This initiative bridged a critical skills gap and further solidified our commitment to building a tech-enabled workforce in Ogun State.

Training Over 800 Individuals for Free

One of our most significant accomplishments this year has been the training of over 800 individuals in various tech skills at the ATB Tech Hub. This was made possible through funding from AYAF. Many of these trainees have already secured jobs and internships, validating our efforts and inspiring us to aim even higher.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we wrap up 2024, I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. At AYAF and ATB Tech Hub, we remain open to partnerships and projects that align with our mission to empower communities through education, skill development, and innovation.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Abiodun Atobatele and Olayinka Atobatele for their visionary leadership and unwavering support. Together, we are creating a ripple effect of positive change that will resonate far beyond 2024.

Here’s to an even more impactful 2025!
